I agree. Absolutely. I mean, I'm a pretty morningish person, but yeah. I mean, I can do it, once I get up and get in the bath and wake up, but ... it's annoying? Caitlin

when I was in school, I felt the same way! I can schedule my classes now, but I'm stupid, and next term scheduled them all for 8:30 in the morning hahahah!

Here here!! I hated getting up at 5 in the morning just to be at school and still sleepy at 7:30. And in uni it's worse, my first semester I had an 8 class and thought I was going to die.

Well, for kids who go to school and still live at home I think school as to start that early so that the parents can see them off before heading out for work. They got to be at work by 8 or 8:30 most often so that means the latest they can leave home is 7:20 or 7:30 and by that time they got to make sure the kid is ready or on the bus. For universities <grin> just never take an 8:30 class. I learnt that after my freshman year, boy, sr year my classes started at 11:30 and I even missed them occasionally because I overslept ;) too bad now I got to get up at 6:30 every day and go to work, else I won't get paid.

I truley aggree. School starts at 7-35 but we all get up at 6 and the bus comes to my house at 7. I take long to get settled, and my mom says "hurry up!" Im always tired. and I never eat brakfast so, maybe that'll do it. anyway, a lot of kids in my school sleep on there desks. for example, my teacher talked to one of my friend's parents telling them that the girl can't even have her head up. and even, in my geometry class, almost the hole class, had there heads glued to the desks. in my english class, 1 kid was snoring while the teacher was talking about research papers. so, my aid always wants to send to the nurse because I look extremely pale. I tell her that im tired very tired, so she says ok.

Yeah lots of kids in my school get tired too. But I don't think thats' so much getting up early as it is going to bed late, at least for some of those kids. And Wilde, your point is a good one, I never thogught ot that; the thpoint that parents want to, need to, or should see their kids off before going to work. That makes sense.

I think it sucks getting up every morning at 5:30. School should totally start later then 7:30. At least i m not in that situation 4 very much longer except 1 more year after this year, so yeah!!

My first class starts at 7-30 in the morning, so I have to get up at six. It really does suck. I usually have to hit the snooze button like three times so I'll get up. Or sometimes I'll turn off my alarm accidentally, and then fall back asleep. I'm always the first one in my house to get up, and I always have to drag my brother's lazy ass out of bed, because his alarm doesn't wake him up, and it gets really annoying, because he sets it to go off anyway, because he's a dumb ass. Lol. So it goes off at six, and it just goes off for like an hour. Beep, Beep, Beep!!! And like I don't know how to work his alarm so I always either let it go off until he wakes up, or hit the snooze button and it shuts off until like 5 minutes later. Oh, and then when I wake him up, and tell him to get up, it takes him like 5 hours to get his ass out of bed, and then he spends like an hour in the bathroom when both me and my mom need to use it, because we only have one bathroom, and like he takes baths in the morning and like uses all the hot water! GRRRRRRRRR! I swear we need another bathroom! Anyway, I'm getting a little off the topic so... Yeah, school should start later, like at 8-30, and it should go to 4. Then at least I could get up at seven instead of six. I know it's only like an hour later, but it would still be better. I'd get one more hour of sleep.

Personally, although it might be nice if school started later, that would also mean that you would get out later. If school started at, say, 9:00, then the release time would be about 4:40. In my case. by the time I got home, it would be about 5:00. And the homework situation for me i usually bad enough at 3:10, so I could only imagine how late I would have to stay up on a night where the homework situation was desperate. I could imagine a time where I would have to stay up until midnight if I got home at 5:00. Of course, lots of kids stay up that late anyway, but I'm not one of them.

I do agree with Doodgeman on this front. I stay up late enough doing homework.

Well, my school starts at 8 AM ad I have to get up at 5:30 because I always take a shower and I go there by bus. I Englad they start at 8:40, that's better. I agree, school should start later.

Yeah, and I oversleep regularly. It really should start later.

Wildebrew, your theory about parents seeing their children off to school is a good one, but it's not completely accurate because young children, who usually need the most help in the a.m., typically start the latest. The other problem is the bus situation for the school districts. They try to stagger the hours so that they can use their buses as efficiently as possible. As for staying up late doing HW, it would be bettter because at least you'd get up later as well. I definitely think anything earlier than 7:30 should be out of the question, as the buses typically get most students there even earlier than start time. I think the best time is 8:30. Then after-school sports games would still have some daylight, and practices could be scheduled earlier if need be.

I don't mind, what's the problem anyways. If I don't wake this early, I might not wake up at all.

When I was in middle school classes started at eight but i had to be up by five in order to get ready and catch my bus by seven thirty. In high school classes started around seven thirty and I thought I was going to fall asleep on the first day of high school.

I think if school started later, it would not prepare kids for future jobs when they will have to get up early because they will be on this late schedule.
